WEW GmbH, headquartered in Dortmund, Germany is an independent manufacturer of water electrolysis stacks to produce hydrogen. WEW's innovative and cost-efficient alkaline water electrolysis stacks enable the economic production of green hydrogen in many areas of application. WEW’s mission is to develop, manufacture, and provide this core component needed for any hydrogen production plant. The basic design of WEW’s stacks is suited for a wide range of applications from small, decentralized MW plants to large-scale GW plants.We support our customers during engineering and execution of their hydrogen plants. In the engineering phase our offer ranges from the joint alignment of process parameters to extensive support in the conceptual system and plant design for a wide range of hydrogen applications and capacities. During execution we offer to support monitoring of the installation of the electrolysis stacks into the customer’s plant and consult during start-up and operation of the plant.The standardized WEW stack is a radical new design based on alkaline water electrolysis technology. It ensures superior cost effectiveness while providing competitive efficiency. To achieve these benefits, the WEW stack is designed for optimized automated manufacturing processes while minimizing the required material input. Low pressure operation ensures high flexibility and safety. Moreover, the internal electrolyte balancing concept enables separate electrolyte cycles without the need of periodical mixing. This reduces the risk of gas contamination from gas dissolved in liquid and related explosion risks.A single stack has a rated power uptake of 0.5 MW. Individual stacks can easily be combined to larger stack arrays. Up to three stacks can be electrically connected in series while a further capacity increase will be achieved by connecting the resulting stack series in parallel. Due to the compact size of the WEW product, the stacks can be integrated into standardized containers for smaller units and can be easily transported to plant sites across the globe.
